Here's How To Make Sure Cuts Are Nice And Clean.

Any time you use a miter saw to cut wood, there is a chance the backside will splinter. The problem is worse if the blade is dull and that means lots of extra sanding to get a smooth finish.

To avoid this try using painters tape.

Stick a piece of painters tape on the backside of the board directly under the area that you’ll be making the cut. The tape will hold the wood fibers in place as the blade enters the board, so when you remove it, you’ll have a nice clean splinter free cut.
