<p>Friday 20th November 2020</p> <p>Hello and lovely Friday morning to you.</p> <p>We’ve been talking about The Team Triangle - The place of mentors.</p> <p>Today, let’s talk about Mates.</p> <p>Exodus 17: 12 - 13 (NLT)</p> <p>12 Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So, Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands. So, his hands held steady until sunset.</p> <p>13 As a result, Joshua overwhelmed the army of Amalek in battle.</p> <p>Moses was a mentor (he was a great man). As he raised up his hands, Joshua was winning but as he got tired, his hands were going down and they began to lose. Two of his friends (His elder brother, Aaron who was also his spokesman and another elder in the land, Hur). When they saw that he was getting weak, what they did was that they took the position of “Mate.”</p> <p>What do I mean?</p> <p>They chose to stand beside him. They were not ahead of him; they both stood by him, side by side so he could lean on them.</p> <p>Life sometimes could get very challenging even for the strongest of us and at these times even though we have wonderful mentors (and it’s great to have people you look up to) and protégés that look up to us. But sometimes, it’s just good to have friends you can talk to. Friends that you on the same level, same phase of life, you share the same experiences and that you can open up and talk. You are not trying to impress anybody; you are just trying to be friends.</p> <p>It is good we have these kinds of relationships.</p> <p>Some people complain that life is lonely, leadership is lonely. If it is lonely, it is because you’ve not made yourself available to have friends. Proverbs says he that must have friends must show himself friendly. It is important we go out to make friends.</p> <p>There is a lovely story about friendship in 1 Samuel 8:1- 4</p> <p>Saul was David's boss and mentor but himself and Jonathan were best of friends.
