Skate Kitchen

<p>This week's skateboard movie is Crystal Moselle's Skate Kitchen from 2018, about a teenage girl who befriends a group of female skateboarders in New York City by connecting with them via Instagram. It's inspired by the real group of female skaters who call themselves "Skate Kitchen", and features the group's members playing fictionalized versions of themselves. Also discussed: gatekeeping, poseurs, the member of the skateboard crew who films everything, parents (THEY JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND), and getting credit-carded. This movie is much, much better than Police Academy 4.</p>
