Most of us cannot throw a 90+ mph fastball, or hit a 300 yard drive, or perform open-heart surgery. We recognize our inability to do these things, or even to get someone else’s dog to obey us! Nor can we always know they way of things; they are hidden from us and the wise seek it out, but we cannot know the end from the beginning. We are able to see around the bend in the road. Proverbs 3:5-8 tells us to not lean on our own understanding, and to not be wise in our own eyes. We need to acknowledge the Lord and Ask. In our PrayerPodcast, let’s pray for all our government officials that they learn to lean on Him, look to Him and ask for wisdom and guidance for their governance. A Devotional Prayer for Obtaining Godly Wisdom [Pro 2:1-5 NKJV] 1 My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, 2 So that you incline your ear to wisdom, apply your heart to understanding; 3 Yes, if you cry out for discernment, lift up your voice for understanding, 4 if you seek her as silver, And search for her as [for] hidden treasures; 5 Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God. Here are 5 key things we can do and pray for to discover the knowledge of God: receive, treasure - be intentional incline - study the word apply - have a teachable heart cry out, lift your voice - be consistent in asking seek, search - be diligent in searching The promise of knowledge of the holy is conditional, that is - If we do these things, then comes the divine promise: we will understand and find. Father, help us focus on searching the word for Godly wisdom and knowledge. May we meditate on your Word, and be teachable, asking regularly for wisdom we lack, and to make it a daily priority.
