Good Vs. Godly: Does It Matter?

By Ben Light in Salem, OR - January 21, 2023 - The laws of man frequently govern the just, equitable and fair interactions between mankind, going as far back as some of the most ancient codifications of these laws. But these laws, designed to ensure that people treated one another civilly, did not govern a persons responsibility to God for the sin they committed. They only governed the goodness of those individuals toward their neighbor. When we consider the law of God, it is different. It governs both our actions towards others, but also our responsibility to God. It governs godliness, and goodness and godliness are not the same thing. Does it matter? Is goodness enough, or is God calling us to something more?
