Breaking down the Benchmark Report

<p>Tim Steele, chief executive officer at Class, and Jo Hurley, general manager, growth at Class, join the SMSF Adviser Show to talk about the findings of their annual Benchmark Report.<br /> <br /> Mr Steele and Ms Hurley explain that younger generations are driving new SMSF establishments, but growth in the sector is also being aided by greater longevity for older SMSF members.<br /> <br /> The pair also cover the superannuation gender gap, including the relatively strong showing from SMSFs versus APRA funds and the “reverse gender gap” seen in under 25s with SMSFs.<br /> <br /> Finally, Mr Steele and Ms Hurley highlight the disparity between SMSF and APRA fund members enjoying tax-free earnings in retirement phase, as well as the implications of the $3 million super balance cap.</p>
