Your Past is in the Past - Audio

Do any of you have a past? Yep, we all do. It is one thing for sure we all have in common. That is yesterday or the months or years or decades before now. But what I am really talking about is who we were years or months ago. What people remember of who we were. It could be that we are now a much different person than we were in the past. More together, more mature, much closer to God, a changed person than we were in the past. You see, your past is in the past. People may think of the “old” you and ask, how you can be so different now. The worse thing we can do is to live in the past. Even though we are different now, we can linger in the past. If you are always looking back, you can never move forward. And if you live in the past, you can die in the past. Jesus had to overcome his past. In this story, even as he was performing miracles, those around him, in his own hometown, thought of him as the son of Joseph and Mary, the carpenter’s son. He could have stayed there in the past, making furniture…..or move forward as God would have him do. We have the same choice. We can be concerned about what people think of what we were back then and not move forward or we can be what God would have us to be today. Your past is in the past. You aren’t who you were, so be who you are. Let’s get moving.
