Human leaders always fail when it comes to listening and obeying, and there are a number of reasons why they fail. Not least, they fail because God’s people don’t want the kind of leaders for whom attentive listening is their default. 1 Samuel 15 leaves the reader longing for a leader not of human, but of divine choice.
