Why we should never trust our souls to no one but Jesus!

As we take a look at Jeremiah, chapter 2, as an example when we are indifferent to God and dismiss the [reverent] fear of the LORD (v.19). It discusses Judah's apostasy, an evil thing in the sight of the Lord! This unfaithful nation thought it was best to run to Egypt and Assyria in search of an ally to escape God's judgment because they refused to come out of idolatry! God likens Judah's defection (chasing after false gods, bowing down to them, and abandoning Him), as a camel and prostitute in heat who goes awhoring for a mate! God hated spiritual adultery and idolatry then, and He hates it now! The Lord called on the heavens to be appalled at this wicked behavior: “Be appalled, O heavens, at this; be shocked and shudder with horror [at the behavior of the people],” says the Lord (Jeremiah 2:12). Their desertion of the faith will punish them (v.19). 🚩 Our trust should not be in man, but in Christ. "Cursed is the man who trusts in and relies on mankind, making [weak, faulty human] flesh his strength, and whose mind and heart turn away from the Lord" (Jeremiah 17:5). Beloved, we cannot turn over our souls to mere mortals who preach another gospel. Our salvation is life saving! It was bought with a steep price - the precious, sinless shed blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! We shouldn't carelessly and ignorantly turn over the truth of our salvation to those who distort the truth, who have come away from the true teachings of Jesus Christ, who chase after filthy lucre, who are clouds without rain, who come with articulation in speech, they come with flattery and smooth sounding words, they come with hyperbole, they come with charisma and grandiose tickl
