Why can England not celebrate Englishness?

<p>Yesterday was St George's Day - a celebration of ENGLAND. But unlike St Patrick's Day, for example, public exuberant displays of Englishness are sneered at and those celebrating the glorious English heritage condemned as 'little Englanders".
