<p>'whiskey, and why did she go'</p> <p><br></p> <p>this, shimmering and virginal,&nbsp;</p> <p>is where you are found</p> <p>reality implores, so you smooth</p> <p>jesus from the label while</p> <p>sucking vengefully at the viper</p> <p>is it karma acted upon or</p> <p>simply perspective from a duller view</p> <p>your beaded smile rehearses a fatal calm</p> <p>how attractive gods must be in slumber,</p> <p>far from judging, an ancient quiet</p> <p>screaming between your ears</p> <p>and you are the perpetual joke</p> <p>birthed from the machine</p> <p>but you love…you, incapable of undermining</p> <p>what the next passing second holds</p> <p>devils’ tears wet your face tonight</p> <p>while clairvoyance uncoils the tongue;</p> <p><br></p> <p>jesus keeps curling from under your fingertips</p> <p>and he is flawed.</p> <p><br></p> <p>#barflypoet</p> <p>#josephapinto</p> <p>© Copyright Joseph A.
