We take different things in our lives to make them mean something to us and create a personal belief system. </p><p>Facts, on the other hand, are external things you can measure. Think about data, statistics, and things like that. The problem we have is that we find every reason to validate our "truth" despite the facts that are right in front of us. We <i>always </i>want to be right. This is what you call confirmation bias.</p><p>When you get obsessed with your truth, it can blind you. It becomes this poisonous thing that closes off your mind from different perspectives. You always approach issues with a skewed perspective to validate your truth no matter what, and you don't even realize it. <i>This type of thinking is holding us back as a society.</i></p><p>Once you identify that some of your views might be flawed, you need to try a break free from this.
