God in the Everyday–Fr Mike Delaney–Wine Awards (Fr Mike has been thinking about all the various wine awards and how they might be compared to how we judge people. Ultimately what these wine awards are saying is that on a given day, in a given place, the wine chosen is the best of all those that have been presented for judging. However, even though we might take notice of wine awards, the main question is – did I enjoy the wine and would I enjoy another glass. Is my personal judgement that buying that wine was a great decision? What happens when I meet people? Do we make decisions based on what other people have said about them, do we act like the wine snob who only takes notice of what others think and don’t take the time to get to know them and make my own decision? Jesus says – ‘Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me; and those who welcome me welcome the one who sent me.’ This week take the time to see people as they are and know that they are Christ in our midst, the image of our God.)
