VOT: May 21, 2023-The Quickening Spirit “Subduing the Flesh” The natural man thirsts and hungers for things that can be seen with human eyes or of physical significance. This has limitations and boundaries compared to the spiritual man. Interestingly there is greater treasure hidden in the spiritual or supernatural realm. Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ crucified the flesh, being nailed to the cross. This divine sacrifice of His flesh though painful physically, shut the door of eternal pain and opened the door of eternal gain and joy everlasting. Though the flesh was crucified, the Spirit was quickened by the power of His resurrection. The same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ back to life is still alive, quickening our mortal bodies in like manner. It restores health and guarantees us abundant life on earth and eternal life in glory. Our light afflictions in the flesh or physical realm work for us a far more exceeding weight of glory in the spiritual or supernatural realm. Therefore we must stay focused on Jesus Christ and the finished work on Calvary. The death and crucifixion of Jesus Christ led to the resurrection. The resurrection also led to restoration of hope and joy in glory. “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans‬ ‭8:9-11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” ‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭4:17-18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
