<p>VOP 2022: April 6, 2022</p> <p>Complacency has costly consequences</p> <p>God is calling us to be more fervent and vigilant in these perilous times and not be complacent, careless or slothful. We must be Spiritually disciplined and not carnally minded. To be complacent is to pay less attention to things that matter much. It is spiritual Indiscipline.</p> <p>Examples of Complacency vs. Fervency&nbsp;</p> <p>Vashti was complacent while Esther was fervent&nbsp;</p> <p>Eli was partially complacent because he did not restrain his Children, Hophni and Phinehas from walking in sin and disobedience</p> <p>David walked in the fear of God, and was always quick to repent. He was a Man after God's heart.&nbsp;</p> <p>A person can be complacent in some areas and fervent in other areas. However, it is safe to be serious minded especially with spiritual issues of life.</p> <p>Complacency: It means to be satisfied with a situation that you ought to be concerned about. To accept any outcome, even when there is danger or risk of negative consequence when indeed it could be prevented by being active, fervent and vigilant, obedience. Lack of interest (“whatever”)</p> <p>Complacency is a symptom or by-product of disobedience. Some of the signs are: Slothful, lukewarm, prayerlessness, weariness, discouragement.</p> <p>Vashti displayed complacency when she refused to obey the King Ahaseurus’ command. Esther narrowly escaped complacency when she yielded to the warning of her Uncle Mordecai.</p> <p>"But the queen <strong>Vashti</strong> refused to come at the king's commandment by his chamberlains: therefore was the king very wroth, and his anger burned in him" Esther 1:12.</p> <p>The difference between Vashti and Esther is that Esther immediately adjusted and corrected the error of being complacent or nonchalant, but Vashti was not remorseful.</p> <p>"Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so wi
