VOP 2021: November 6, 2021 Joy is a non-negotiable Happiness and Joy are often mistaken by many to be the same. However, the reality is that the latter (Joy) is a personal decision or choice we make based on our spiritual identity in Christ. Happiness is mostly a temporary feeling based on happenings or events that take place particularly seasonal. Some examples are, good news of promotion, new birth, victory over battles. As good as happiness is and should be embraced, the greatest is referred to as “The joy of the Lord” which actually has an additional benefit of strength, particularly in our inner man. Our inner strength is what keeps us standing strong in the midst of challenges, and brings out the best of us and guides us to a glorious and victorious end through Jesus Christ, our redeemer. Prayer: Father, grant me the grace to always choose to be joyful even when my flesh does not feel like be joyful. “Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” ‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭8:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬. “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” John‬ ‭15:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬. “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” Philippians‬ ‭4:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬
