<p>This is Vaccine 4-1-1.&nbsp;&nbsp;As the race for a COVID-19 vaccine continues, here are the numbers:</p><p>142 vaccines are in development, according to The World Health Organization and The New York Times</p><p>128 are in pre-clinical trials.&nbsp;</p><p>5 are in Phase 1 Clinical Trials.</p><p>7 are in Phase 2.</p><p>2 are in Phase 3.&nbsp;One in the United Kingdom and one in Australia.</p><p>On this episode of Vaccine 411… Could a booster of a childhood vaccine you probably already have protect you from the virus?</p><p>First, the latest vaccine news from around the world:&nbsp;</p><p>United States:&nbsp;The race for the COVID-19 vaccine could be held up by a glass shortage.&nbsp;Many of the vaccines in clinical trials require a glass vial for distribution.&nbsp;In order to avoid any kind of backup, BARDA a Federal Government program, has allocated 204 million dollars to Corning to produce an additional 164 million vials a year if needed.&nbsp;</p><p>China:&nbsp;Clover Biopharmaceuticals, entered Phase I human trials with their vaccine candidate.&nbsp;The Chinese based company will begin the trials in Perth Australia with 150 healthy adults.&nbsp;Preliminary data is expected in August.&nbsp;They hope to enter Phase IIb/III trials by the end of the year.&nbsp;</p><p>Thailand:&nbsp;Thirteen monkeys were given a second dose of a potential COVID-19 vaccine, reports Reuters.&nbsp;The monkeys were given the first dose in late May, all but one from the “high dose group” had a positive response.&nbsp;The animals will be monitored over the next two weeks and if the second dose again creates a high immune response, the Thai Government will order 10,000 doses with a mid to late Fall target to begin Phase I human trials.&nbsp;</p><p>Now…Tell me about your childhood.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> &#10;&nbsp;<br /><hr><p style='color: grey; font - size: 0.75em; '>See <a style='color: grey; ' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer' href='https://acast.com/privacy'>acast.com/privacy</a> for privacy and opt-out information.</p>
