Unseasonably Warm and Dry Next 5-days; Shot for Scattered Rain Over Weekend But Not Enough to Move the Needle on Drought Conditions

Description

TODAY and through the next 72 hrs. a blocking ridge of high-pressure will extend from southern Plains to Canadian border and will result in lots of sunshine and dryness over the Tri-state area, while placing daytime highs in the upper 70’s and low 80’s and overnight lows in the mid to upper 40’s. These temps will be 10-15-degeees above normal during the days and 5-degrees at night. South breezes and low relative humidity will elevate fire weather concerns, especially west of KS Hwy 27. Wednesday and Friday will be the breeziest and warmest days. Over the weekend late Saturday into early Sunday an upper-level trough and cold front will approach the area from the west with cooler more seasonal temperatures and some chances for lighter scattered precipitation, but not enough to move the needle on the moderate to severe drought over the area.
