Two-Minute Drill: Laney Malloy Named National Player of the Week
.
Description
SEMO Volleyball Senior Laney Malloy was named the Division I National Player of the Week this week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. "This is a remarkable honor for Laney," head coach Julie Yankus said of Malloy. "She is a wonderful teammate, captain, and player for this program. It is an honor to coach her. Laney is one of those rare six rotation outsides who can do it all. She passes in almost every rotation, plays some great defense, and terminates efficiently. Laney is so fun to watch compete and you can see her love for the game as she plays. I am so proud of her." Malloy, this week's Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, helped SEMO secure the 2021 Redhawks Invitational Championship with a trio of victories over Tulsa (Sept. 17), Southern Illinois (Sept. 17) and Central Arkansas (Sept. 18). Malloy, a three-time All-OVC player, led the SEMO offense this past weekend with 45 kills (4.50 kills/set) on a .441 hitting clip and 20 digs to earn 2021 Redhawks
