Transfer: Paying big money doesn’t mean you’ll play – Pochettino warns Chelsea player

<p>Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino has warned new Chelsea signing, Cole Palmer, not to expect regular game time at the club.</p>, <p>The England international joined the Blues in a £42.5 million deal on transfer deadline day.</p>, <p>Before making the switch to Stamford Bridge, Palmer played just 19 Premier League games for Manchester City.</p>, <p>Pochettino had told reporters on Friday that the England youth team star joined Chelsea with a view to secure regular minutes this season.</p>, <p>He has now warned the England U21 international not to expect too much.</p>, <p>Pochettino is adamant that the player did not get assurances before deciding to make the move.</p>, <p>“If someone guarantees to some player to play ok, that is not the case here,” Pochettino said during his pre-match press conference on Friday.</p>, <p>“The player needs to come and perform and let us manage.</p>, <p>“But for us even when you pay big money for a player at Chelsea it doesn’t mean you are guaranteed to play. That is the wrong way to think.</p>, <p>“We never sign players who we promise will play. It has never happened, even when we signed Messi at Paris Saint-Germain.</p>, <p>“I would never promise them they will play 20 or 30 games. Come on, that is very disrespectful</p>, <p>“That is why we have 24, 25 players.”</p>
