<p>In this episode, we are joined by independent economist Tony Alexander to discuss what he thinks will happen to interest rates over the next year (and beyond). </p> <p><br></p> <p>This includes a prediction that longer-term rates have already peaked and are currently on their way down. </p> <p><br></p> <p>He also suggests that the <a href="https://www.opespartners.co.nz/mortgage/interest-rates" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferer">1-year rate</a> is at (or very near) its peak and will likely be around 6.25% by the same time next year before dropping back to about 5.25% the year following. </p> <p><br></p> <p>This depends on what happens to inflation and the Reserve Bank's actions.</p>
