Description

Well that sounds like an ominous episode title doesn't it!? We promise, this episode isn't a cautionary tale! In fact, it showcases the empowering and mutually beneficial experience that can come from sharing recovery stories with the world, provided it's done with thoughtful consideration for both story tellers and their audience.

We speak to two guests who have their own expertise in this space:

Jessie, who can be found at @flourisingjessie, is an EDV Support Group Facilitator who documented her recovery through her Instagram account. Jessie reflects on her Instagram journey, her thoughts on quasi-recovery accounts and what she has to say to others turning social media in their recovery.

Ruth, who manages our team of lived experience Ambassadors and supports them to document and share their recovery story with the broader community. Ruth approaches this subject with the 30+ years of experience that EDV has in supporting people to share their stories. She shares the process for becoming an Ambassador, the reality of the storytelling space (not always what people think it is!) and the ways that EDV supports people to engage in this space safely.

Both Jessie and Ruth bring different perspectives to this discussion. They pose important questions for us all to consider when consuming or telling lived experience stories.

If you are thinking of sharing your story one day, don't miss this episode.

๐ CONTACT THE HUB:

Call: 1300 550 236
Email: hub@eatingdisorders.org.au
Web Enquiry: www.eatingdisorders.org.au

If you are located outside of Victoria, please contact The Butterfly Foundation: www.butterfly.org.au

๐ฟ FIND EDV ON SOCIALS:

Instagram: <a href="https://www.instagram.com/ea
