<p>The worst advice we've ever received ["You can do it for free on YouTube"]</p> <p><br></p> <p>We're on a mission to help one million people RISE by 2030 - join the movement at <a href="http://www.myrise.co.uk/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.myrise.co.uk</a></p> <p><br></p> <p>Approaching two years ago the family and I bought a dog.</p> <p>We went to see the puppy litter when they were very small and made our choice.</p> <p>After much inter-family negotiation we selected one and a mint green collar was placed around her neck.</p> <p>For a little while she was then going to he called Minty.</p> <p>But we settled on Jessie.</p> <p>When collecting Jessie we received some of the worst advice we have ever got.</p> <p>We asked the breeder about dog training classes.</p> <p>“You don’t need lessons” he began.</p> <p>“You can learn it all off YouTube”.</p> <p>Whilst I’m sure he’s right and that some people have trained their dog to a high standard using free YouTube videos……..</p> <p>We didn’t.</p> <p>Simple as that.</p> <p>We wasted those integral first few months training her to a degree, but not enough to get the results we desired.</p> <p>We then started lessons which were interrupted by COVID.</p> <p>And we haven’t got round to restarting after the last lockdown.</p> <p>Her behaviour is reasonable now.</p> <p>But it’s hardly amazing for getting on for two years worth of effort.</p> <p>We would’ve made so much quicker progress (and saved much frustration) by getting expert help from the beginning.</p> <p>Like we would in many areas of life.</p> <p>It always makes me sad when people don’t start with us (or do a bit, then stop) with the intention to “have a go myself”.</p> <p>After nearly 20 years in the Fitness Industry I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anyone that’s got better results that way.</p> <p>It’s the slow, hard way versus the fast, easy way.</p> <p>Or, at the very least, faster and easier.</p> <p>If all people needed was to know how to do some workouts, then that might work.</p> <p>A couple of months wit
