The Wish Tree Meditation
Nancy Mbani
Description

"Pay attention to the trees that you pass when you go about your day: whenever you're out walking or cycling or driving." - Holly Worton from the book "If Trees Could Talk."

This session’s guided meditation will spend time exploring the magical possibility of wish trees.

On travels, you may have encountered wish trees; which span the globe going back to ancient times.

Traveling to Ireland, I had the opportunity to spend time on the Hill of Tara, where I found a Hawthorne adorned with a mixture of wishes on fabric hung by locals and travelers.

Wishes are written on “Clooties, which is a Scottish word meaning “Cloth”

Clooties are torn bits of fabric, paper, or ribbon. Sometimes they can simply be a silent prayer or wish held while tying some ribbon.

This simple act combines the emotions and intentions inside a personal and sacred act to inspire the desired outcome. Wish trees are often found near sacred wells, but they can be found anywhere.
