The NIST Privacy Framework

<p>How can organizations "do" privacy better? There may not be a one-size-fits-all answer, but the NIST Privacy Framework is certainly a great place to start. </p><p>The Framework, released in January 2020 and modeled after the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, is a voluntary tool that offers agencies a risk-based approach to privacy. Lefkovitz, her team and key stakeholders developed the tool with three key value propositions in mind: building trust, meeting legal obligations, and paving the way for more effective communication around privacy.</p><p>We dive into key principles of the framework, such as data minimization, and examine the benefits of a risk management approach to privacy versus a principles-based approach.
