Sunday 6 June    This Mystery Called Joy 6.   To many, joy is not a powerful kingdom quality like faith, love or holiness because a joyful person is usually upbeat, happy, energetic and passionate. They might not have the serious, somber look but joy is amazingly powerful and most people don’t know. That is why it is a mystery.     Habakkuk 3:17-19 (NLT) Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, 18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!  The Sovereign Lord is my strength!  He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights.   This clearly a picture of a failed farm project, yet this man is excited and celebrating God and he gives us the reason. He said, “My life is detached from things and connected to God, my power source. As long as my connection with God is intact, everything will work out fine” And he left nobody in doubt of his power source, he said, “The Sovereign Lord is my strength!” And the Book of Nehemiah 8: 10 says, “…the joy of the Lord is my strength”. So, if joy is strength and Habakkuk said “…The Lord is my strength.”  Then we can also say, “The Lord is my Joy.” How can you say “The Lord is my joy?” When Moses asked God how to answer when he is asked who sent him to deliver the Israelites, God said to him, say “I AM THAT I AM sent you” (Ex. 3:14) God is saying, “I can be to you whatever you want me to be at whatever time as long as it’s in line with His nature.   God is our joy, the Almighty God is the All-sufficient One, so if we have the joy of the Lord, potentially we have everything we need.
