While Ravana was born a rakshasa (asura or demon), he emerged as a genius - a scholar of repute; a great musician, the one who successfully ruled over all the three worlds.The life story of Ravan is truly inspiring. A devout follower of Lord Shiva, he was one of the most powerful beings and rulers of all time. He was known for his wisdom, strength and control over the gods, demons and human beings alike. He is believed to have ruled over the city of Lanka for several hundred years, prior to the emergence of the Ramayana.
