<p>Sitting in a forest hoping it's energy will become words on a page. &nbsp;Then I realize, this is no different than walking up to a comedian telling them to say something funny. &nbsp;Hey Michael Bolton sing a real love song! &nbsp;Or the one that gets me, "We knew you were in radio. &nbsp;Listen to that voice." &nbsp;Which is why I gently glide them into a great conversation about this isn't my voice. &nbsp;It's the growing result of forty two years of great program directors and radio consultants shaping me. &nbsp;Overlooking this forest on the deck puts me twenty three feet up into the trees. &nbsp;That's when I take note of how the trees, tall grasses and slow paced stream aren't really doing the talking. &nbsp;It's what I call "God Space." &nbsp;In all things that we have done, it was planned out days, months or years before you got here. &nbsp;And today happens to be the moment you chose to listen and or react. &nbsp;So many of us live in our past. &nbsp;Everything you do today will be fed by an event from chapters already written. &nbsp;Being mindful of your present means living in the Now. &nbsp;Receiving the story as it's being given to you. &nbsp;It has nothing to do with your past. &nbsp;I don't practice stream thinking. &nbsp;I live it. &nbsp;A lot of us do plenty of practicing bad. &nbsp;Write for ten minutes a day. &nbsp;No judgement. &nbsp;No subject at hand. &nbsp;Just write. &nbsp;Learning to trust the present doesn't just happen. &nbsp;The goal is to know it so you can wear it. &nbsp;The very second someone asks me to write something I freeze up. &nbsp;Stream writing frees me up. &nbsp;If you don't want to write then record your voice on the smartphone. &nbsp;Talk for ten minutes straight. &nbsp;It will get easier then more you work the exercise into your life. &nbsp;</p> --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/arroe-collins/message
