The Future of Waste

As UBS continues to hit new milestones in thematic and sustainable investing, the bank has produced a new longer-term investment initiative. The new programme of “Future Of....” pieces of meta-thematic research focuses on challenges that resonate with clients and provide associated investment solutions with a strong sustainability component. The first in the new series is ‘The Future of Waste’. About 30 per cent of food produced globally is wasted at a cost of $1tn per year, while 10 per cent of people go hungry. One of the report’s editors in chief and one of its co-authors join us to shine a light on opportunities to mitigate costs and issues associated with waste, while targeting compelling returns.
