Welcome to Album Clash! With apologies for the slightly late release, this week we bring to a close our battle of the punk heavyweights, as well as calling a halt to our musical road trip, we take a look at the Sex Pistols' first and only album 'Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols'. Perhaps unsurprisingly it's a long one this week, because frankly there's a shit ton for us to get through. Such as the influence of Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren on the bands image (and perhaps even their lyrics), the infamous Television appearance which led to EMI dropping the band before they'd even released a record, the acrimonious departure of Glen Matlock (and his notorious replacement), and the various other controversies and publicity stunts that led to the band becoming the most notorious group in rock. And all that is before they'd even recorded the album! We also talk about the disastrous American tour which proved to be the band's demise, and we unfortunately have to address the allegations surrounding Sid Vicious and the death of his partner Nancy Spungen. And if that lot wasn't enough for you, we also talk about some songs. In our latest 'video killed the radio star' Tim talks us through a tongue in cheek video from a band who developed a reputation for irreverent videos. And this week's allbum of the pod celebrates a recently departed great. We get down to scoring our two classic punk albums to see which emerges victorious from the ring of death, before Tim reveals the subjects of our next clash… This. Is.
