When you have a naked single option on, such as a Short Put or Short Call, there is no additional buying power impact if you choose to add the other side, and convert the strategy into a Strangle/Straddle. The reason why this is the case is that only one side of the strategy can be in-the-money at any given time, so there is no justification to have to put up margin on both sides of the strategy. As we look to adjust our Short Put from FL earnings, we see this exact phenomenon play out.
