<p>Andrea Nagel was a kid when her mother first began giving her drugs but Andrea didn't realize she was addicted to them until years later. When at the age of sixteen she moved in with her older boyfriend to escape her dangerous and abusive home her drug use soon spiraled out of control. </p> <p> </p> <p>After being in active addiction from the age of 9 to 24 and nearly overdosing Andrea decided she had to change her life. She sought treatment and now works to end the stigma and correct the false information around addiction. She has learned firsthand that addiction thrives in shame and that no one is immune. After years of trying to run away from her feelings and push away the parts of her she felt were unlovable, she decided to embrace even the broken parts because they too were beautiful.
