The Benefits of Short call Spreads

It’s been pretty well documented on tastytrade that while <a href="https://ontt.tv/2uLpE1c">Short Call Spreads</a> are great strategies to implement a bearish bias in the market, it can be difficult to generate positive P/L with these strategies.  The reason this is the case is because the <a href="https://ontt.tv/WbkbJ">short delta effect and the short vega effect</a> effectively cancel out, if the market does indeed fall. On the other side, though, this same relationship makes losing money on a market rally also more difficult to do.  So while we might not make as much money on the way down, we also don’t typically lose as much money on the way up.
