The Authority of Scripture

By Ben Light in Salem, OR - January 29, 2022 - We live in a world which has largely rejected the bible and God as the source of their morality. As such, homosexuality, same-sex marriage, and cases of gender dysphoria have increased significantly as it has become more societally normalized. A number of state and national laws which govern and limit speech regarding these topics have become common - igniting a battle over the very scriptures we have developed our faith upon. Can the bible be considered hate speech? What if a person quotes scripture, and expounds on that scripture - can that be considered hate speech? As someone who bases their life on the pages of the bible, and its authority, how do we appropriately navigate these societal waters as they become more and more muddied, while still upholding the sanctity and authority of scripture?
