The art of fluid conversations

<p>Ep #158 - In Neuro-Linguistic Programming, The Hierarchy of Ideas (also known as chunking) is a linguistic tool used in NLP that allows the speaker to traverse the realms of abstract to specific easily and effortlessly. When we speak or think we use words that indicate how abstract, or how detailed we are in processing the information.</p> <p>When you take a topic of conversation and move it to a higher idea, lower it to specifics, or shift it sideways to include other related thoughts, ideas, experiences, etc. you are actively in the flow of chunking up, down, or laterally/sideways.</p> <p>This might sound a bit heady but I assure you you have been doing this your whole life. When you think back to your first bicycle or simply the first time you rode a bike: what did that bike represent to you? When it broke down what part was it that needed fixed? When you drove the first time and/or got your first car what did that represent to you and what parts about driving or the car most excited you? What other ways have you traveled?</p> <p>All of these answers are part of the concept of Hierarchy of Ideas.
