Tara Hunter - Lifelong Educator

Tara Hunter is a lifelong educator, who is currently working as an<br />assistant principal that believes that all children deserve a chance at a<br />great education. To achieve this, she has devoted thousands of hours of<br />her personal time and income to help children achieve their potential<br />over the last twenty years. This includes purchasing uniforms, shoes,<br />coats, school supplies, and food. She has even provided a bed for a child<br />that was sleeping on the floor.<br /><br />Tara is such a proponent of education that she has earned two master’s<br />and three bachelor’s degrees. Her husband told her at the beginning of<br />her teaching career that it would take at least 15 years to see the impact<br />that she had on her students’ lives. Now that her former students have<br />their own children, they are reaching out to her on social media to thank<br />her for her encouragement, inspiration, and modeling for them the<br />importance of education.<br /><br />She recently authored a children’s book about her two grandchildren<br />going to visit their grandparents and is currently working on a book that<br />will be called “In the Waiting Room” that provides encouragement and<br />hope to individuals that are going through traumatic situations.<br />Tara has been recognized by the Melinda and Bill Gate Foundation as an<br />outstanding educator. She has also had the opportunity to be a part of the<br />math team at TN State level that identify the math standards students are<br />being taught today.<br /><br />Tara Hunter is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Incorporate and chaired<br />the Education Development Program.<br /><br />Tara is the wife of an Air Force veteran and an ordained minister. She is<br />the mother of three adult children, a son in law and the proud<br />grandmother of two vibrant grandchildren.
