Steven Walsh (Six Counties Protestant Boys)

<p>Steven Walsh grew up with bands in the North Down area and always had his heart set on being a drummer and achieved his goal as a very young lead tip.</p><p>His experience with the band led him to join the Guards and after a stint recruiting joined the Corps of Drums and put his years of experience in bands to use in the army.</p><p>During this time a few friends had come up with the idea of forming a band from within the guards to do a few parades and the Six Counties Protestant Boys made their first appearance at the Rathcoole Protestant Boys parade.</p><p>Their appearance went down well and they ended up with a few trophies on the night, the bands lifespan was cut short due to life changes within the band.</p><p>When Steven left he returned to band life here in Northern Ireland and he shares his Made to Parade story with us here.</p><p>We also have a new segment for this episode "Shelf Life" where John Gamble will review some books that will be of interest to the scene, this weeks book is 'Londonderry Revisited' by Paul Kingsley (Available on Amazon) the book gives an analysis of the issue of civil rights at the start of the troubles - a different perspective than we are used to hearing or reading about, while the book may cost you a few pounds its well worth getting your hands on.</p><p>If you want to get in touch with the podcast or share your story connect with us through our facebook or twitter pages, alternatively you can email us madetoparadebook@gmail.com</p><p>Thanks as always to our sponsors/patrons, thank you for your continued support we really appreciate it.
