Description

Hey Elevaters! I’m starting the series that I teased about getting an advanced degree while working full time! This is a HUGE undertaking if you aren’t fully prepared so I wanted to bring in some buddies of mine who have gone down this road and now can call themselves Doctor.

This week’s guest is Dr. James Smith, EdD., from University of California at Riverside. He is the Associate Director of Residential Life within the Division of University Housing. I’ve known James for about...wow….twelve years! We both love karaoke and Madonna, don’t judge.

James goes through the process of deciding on a program, how he carved the time to go to class and do research, and then determining how to stay up with the work/life balance thing. It’s a fun and honest conversation about how he made the decision and did the work.

Support at your day job is key, so is finding the exact strategies that work for you. It’s a team effort featuring lots of negotiation. And once you have that degree, there is an opportunity to give back and pay it forward.

Click HERE to learn about James’ program from UCLA.
