Description

On November 30, 1954, 34-year-old Ann Elizabeth Fowler Hodges from Alabama in the US, was struck by a meteorite while sleeping. She survived and became the first and so far, only recorded human to be directly stuck by an extra-terrestrial object. For Space Week, which is being held this week, an international team of artists and scientists are trying to honour Ann Hodges by launching a campaign to persuade the U.N. to launch an International Meteorite Awareness Day. Rob O’Sullivan, from Blackrock Castle Observatory who is also running space week, spoke to Fran.
