Similarities Between Youth Day ZA And Juneteenth US | Sunday Funday

<p>This week we commemorate Youth Day in South Africa and Juneteenth in the United States. We discuss the similarities between these two public holidays; Youth Day is commemorated on June 16 and Juneteenth is commemorated on the 19th of June. Both these major historical moments in each country&apos;s struggle for Black liberation and racial equity. Both moments remind us that liberation was hard-won.</p><p>Youth day honors a series of demonstrations and protests led by black school-aged children against the apartheid regime&apos;s imposition of Afrikaans as the language of instruction in their already-segregated and resource-starved schools.
