Description

A Shannon Councillor claims the consultation process on both offshore and onshore wind turbines is currently 'not accessible' for the affected communities. At this month's meeting of Clare County Council, Fianna Fáil Councillor Cillian Murphy proposed that the local authority put forward a submission to the Department of Housing to have the development area for offshore wind projects in the west moved further off shore. The motion was widely supported, but taken further by Independent Councillor Gerry Flynn who believes further legislation regarding the proximity of onshore wind turbines to populated areas in the county needs to be advocated for. Kilkee Fianna Fáil Councillor Cillian Murphy and Independent Councillor Gerry Flynn from Shannon have been speaking to Clare FM's Morning Focus.
