In this season, we talked a LOT about IFS (Internal Family Systems) and how it can help you truly understand why you use food the way you do (i.e. binge eating, emotional eating, restricting your food, etc.). </p> <p>As I'm sure you've noticed, I think IFS is the absolute best way to make any type of long-term change in your eating patterns. That's because it's the only way that I've found that leads you to <em>truly</em> understanding <em>why</em> you're doing what you're doing. <em>Why</em> are you turning to food? <em>Why</em> are you restricting? <em>Why</em> are you so critical toward your body?</p> <p>With other types of therapeutic modalities, we either focus just on behavior change (which doesn't work), or we make assumptions about why we eat the way we do. We piece together the puzzle, so to speak, and surmise about the underlying causes of our behavior. </p> <p>But the reality is, <em>until you ask your parts why they do what they do</em>, you don't really know. Sure, you might have a good guess, but you don't know for sure.</p> <p>On this week's podcast, I give you a personal example of what I mean by this. I share something I recently discovered about why one of my parts turns me to food sometimes. And it's not <em>at all</em> what I ever would've expected. But now that I know, I've been able to work with that part directly, and that part has really calmed down about food.</p> <p><span data-redactor-span="true" data-redactor-style-cache= "color: rgb(88, 70, 102);"><strong>You <em>have</em> to get to know your parts.</strong></span></p> <p>So, as we wrap up Season 2, I want to encourage you to continue being curious toward your parts. It's the only way to heal your relationship with food and finally gain some peace. </p> <p>I'll be taking a month or so of
