Sgt. Matthew Brown<br /><br />I was born in Chicago, Illinois but raised in Houston TX. I’m the youngest of 7 with a father who has been a nondenominational pastor for over 40 years. And my mother who worked for the school district as a bus driver. <br /><br />I played basketball all throughout junior and high school In the Katy school district. I received a basketball scholarship to the university of Concordia in Austin as well as a Partial drawing scholarship to the art institute in Houston. <br /><br />I rejected both because I knew I wanted to be an officer sense entering high school freshman year. <br /><br />I ended up going to UTSA my first semester but returned home to work full time and go to school online at university of Phoenix while I helped family pay off bills during some tough times. <br /><br />I worked as the supervisor in the receiving warehouse at the shell oil company while finishing for my associates. Once my associates was completed I applied for SAPD. <br /><br />While employed I promoted to Detective during my 6th year and then Sergeant rank during my 9th year on the department. <br /><br />My inspiration is my father. He has always worked hard for all his children while preaching. He worked 2-3 jobs and told my mother she could work only if she wanted to work and to leave the financial burden to him.
