Sanusi meets with Niger military leaders

<p>Former Nigerian Central Bank Governor and 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, has met with the coup leaders in Niger.</p>, <p>Sanusi’s meeting came after the military junta declined a scheduled meeting with representatives from the African Union (AU), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and diplomats from the United States.</p>, <p>Niger has been in the international spotlight following a military coup that has sent shockwaves through the region for the past few days.</p>, <p>The country’s presidential guard, a group that was supposed to protect democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum, blockaded the presidential palace.</p>, <p>Soldiers appeared on state TV to announce they had removed the president from power, seized control of the government, and suspended the constitution.</p>, <p>Later, the commander of the guard, Gen.
