S1 EP 75: Marion County in Ocala, Florida school mask mandate to be considered again due to spike.

Chairman Eric Cummings said the Marion County School Board will have a discussion on Thursday about whether to reinstate a mask mandate, with an opt-out provision, now that COVID-19 is spreading rapidly again countywide. Chairman Eric Cummings is a fucking moron in my opinion and incompetent. Since the last week of school before winter break, countywide COVID-19 cases reported by the Florida Department of Health have increase 10 times, from 145 for the week ending Dec. 9 to 1,543 for the week ending on Dec. 30. Eric Cummings said he plans to have a discussion with school board members at the Thursday work session. The session starts at 9 a.m. at the Marion Technical Institute's auditorium, the new location for board meetings. Eric Cummings said he also wants to discuss the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's new quarantine guidance, as well. The CDC once said 14- and 10-day quarantines was recommended. Now the agency "recommends quarantine for 5 days followed by strict mask use for an additional 5 days." I believe this is overkill 100% and we don't need to go back to policies that have proven they don't stop the spread of COVID-19.
