Just last week, <a href='https://www.egi.co.uk/news/industry-calls-on-pm-to-expand-housing-for-elderly/'>40 signatories backed an open letter</a> to the prime minister Boris Johnson calling for support to expand housing and care provision.</p> <p>This builds on various demands to central government - with the <a href='https://www.egi.co.uk/news/a-call-to-action-over-the-retirement-housing-crisis/'>industry demanding</a> planning changes, alongside stamp duty exemptions, targets   and a framework to boost new development.</p> <p>Last year, <a href='https://www.egi.co.uk/news/industry-calls-on-pm-to-expand-housing-for-elderly/'>former housing minister Mark Prisk said the UK was “failing” the elderly</a>. Here, he expands on this, in conversation with Eugene Marchese, co-founder of developer Guild Living and Will Bax, chief executive of Retirement Villages Group.</p>
