Remembering the Gulag: Who Will Write Its History?

<p class="x_MsoNormal">In this edition of <strong>Wilson Center NOW</strong> we are joined by <strong>Tyler Kirk,</strong> former Title VIII Research Scholar and Assistant Professor, University of Alaska, Fairbanks.  He discusses his Wilson Center project “Remembering the GULAG: Community, Identity and Cultural Memory in Russia's Far North, 1987-2018.” The project highlights both the legacy of the Gulag and the intense dilemmas which surfaced involving local politics of memory during a revolutionary moment in Soviet and post-Soviet history.</p>
