Description

Air Date: 11 01 21

Philippians 4:6-7 | Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

Philippians 4:6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. The first clause is a sweeping admonition against anxiety, which is tempered by the second clause. Prayer is the antidote for anxiety. Since God loves his children, he cares about their needs, which they may express to him in prayer (see Matt 7:9–11; 1 Pet 5:7).

Believers should be prayerful instead of anxious. Paul is not calling for apathy or inaction, for as we make plans in the light of our circumstances, it is our Christian privilege to do so in full trust that our Father hears our prayers for what we need. The answer to anxiety is prayer. “Prayer” denotes the petitioner’s attitude of mind as worshipful. “Petition” denotes prayers as expressions of need. “Thanksgiving” should accompany all Christian praying, as the supplicant acknowledges that whatever God sends is for his good. It may also include remembrance of previous blessings.

Listen to Abiding in Christ Ministries with radio host Lesha Cantrell Monday through Friday at 6:45am (MT) on AM670, KLTT in Colorado; online at 670kltt.com; or via your mobile device on the free KLTT app. May God richly bless you as you abide in Christ
