Parts of the Body in Arabic: 5 Things You Need to Know

<p>1. Parts of the body that come in pairs are in the dual form when referring to both; not in the plural (this sometimes happens in spoken Arabic for eyes 3uyuun عيون , or cheeks خدود &nbsp;khuduud, for example)</p> <p>2. Short vowel declensions are usually only visible in fully-voweled texts such as Koranic verses, or children’s books or poetry. Long suffixes, however, always must be written, hence the different dual forms below.</p> <p>3. The word for <em>fingers</em>(aSaabi3 أصابع ) is used for both <em>fingers</em> and <em>toes</em>. You just need to specify.</p> <p>4. The word for <em>chin</em>(thaqn ذقن ) is used for <em>beard</em> in some dialects.</p> <p>5.
