<p>In this episode of Walk Good we are continuing our journey through Caribbean Holiday Traditions that happen before during and after Christmas.</p> <p>We discuss the Carriacou Parang Festival in Grenada which happens on or around December 13. &nbsp;This festival incorporates African big Drums, Quadrille dancing elements along with traditional Christmas carols. &nbsp;the Parang bands compete for prizes &amp; bragging rights by singing humorous songs about the happenings on the island over the past year. &nbsp;Parang is also popular in Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago.</p> <p>Also celebrated on or About December 13 is Saint Lucy's Day of fest of Saint Lucy in St Lucia. &nbsp;It commemorates a woman names Lucy who dawned a candle wreath on her head to free her hands so that she could bring as much food as possible to Christians in hiding during Roman times when Christians were hunted. &nbsp;Homes are decorated with homemade lanterns. &nbsp;There is a parade where to best lanterns is sent off in the bay with fire works.</p> <p>stories retold in this episode</p> <p>1. &nbsp;&nbsp;How Anansi missed 4 parties in one night</p> <p>2. &nbsp;&nbsp;The Pea that made a Fortune</p> <p><br></p>
